Zu allererst: Ohne das Engagement der Bürgerwissenschaftler:innen wäre WildLIVE! schlicht und ergreifend nicht möglich. Danke dafür!

Aber natürlich müssen die Kamerafallen auch bezahlt, aufgestellt, und gewartet werden, das wissenschaftliche Setup muss geplant, und das ganze Projekt koordiniert werden. Einmal gesammelt und klassifiziert, müssen die Daten wissenschaftlich analysiert und die Ergebnisse schließlich publiziert werden….

WildLIVE! ist ein Projekt, was aus der Forschungsstation Chiquitos heraus entstanden und gewachsen ist. Wie viele andere feldbiologische Projekte kämpft die Station, aber auch WildLIVE!, immer wieder ums Überleben. Dass es uns immer noch gibt, ist vor allem der Mitwirkung und dem Engagement der unten stehenden Personen zu verdanken.

Dr. Martin Jansen unternahm seine erste Forschungs- und Sammelreise für Senckenberg nach Lateinamerika bereits 1999 während seines Biologiestudiums. 2004 war er Mit-Initiator der Forschungsstation „Chiquitos“ für die Erforschung und den Erhalt des Chiquitano-Trockenwalds in Bolivien. Er leitet den Bereich „Audiovisuelle Biodiversitätsforschung“ in der Abteilung Terrestrische Zoologie bei Senckenberg.

Maya Beukes ist seit 14 Jahren im Naturschutz tätig. Sie gründete das Kgalagadi Lion Project und das Baviaanskloof Wildlife Project. In ihrer Doktorarbeit untersucht sie die Faktoren, die wilde Säugetiere beeinflussen. Seit Februar 2022 arbeitet sie bei Senckenberg im WildLIFE! Projekt.
